ENEMY AGAINST PLANT

Devices that are used to fight plant enemies are of two kinds:
(1) which is used to protect crops mechanically
(2) that is used to apply insecticides and fungicides.
From the first frame of the most useful is closed. Usually consists of a wooden box, with luas18 - 20 inches square and 8 inches high., Covered with glass, protecting cloth, mosquito netting or mosquito wire. The first two covers, of course, additional advantages retain heat and protect from cold, so perhaps using them to plant earlier than is otherwise safe. They are used extensively in getting an extra early and safe with cucumbers, melons and other vegetables wine.
Simpler devices for protecting newly-set plants, such as tomatoes or cabbage, from worm-cut, stiff, tin, cardboard or tar paper collars, which are made several inches high and large enough to be placed around the stem and penetrate an inch or more into the soil.
To apply the poison powders, the home gardener should supply himself with gun powder. If someone should be restricted to compressed-air sprayers to apply a single, but it would be better to get one's hand strength. This is used to apply the spray wet, and must be included with one of several forms of decision fog nozzle, non-cloggable type automatically become the best. For larger jobs barrel pump, mounted on wheels, would be desirable, but one of the above will do more work in less time. Extension rods for use in spraying trees and grapes can be obtained for both. For operation on a very small scale right hand needle can be used, but as something that the public would be best to invest a few dollars more and get a small tank sprayer, as this throws continuous stream or spray and holds many large amount of spraying solution . Whatever type is obtained, get a brass machine it will out-wear three or four that are made of cheaper metal, which gave up very quickly to, corrosion action of the strong poisons and chemicals used in it.
From applying for harvesting, beside the spade, hoe and spading-branch-fork, very little is used in small gardens, since most of them need not only long lines are economically used, but horse-power as well. The onion harvester attachment for the double wheel hoe, may be used with advantage in loosening onions, beets, radishes, etc., from the soil or for cutting spinach. Running the hand-plow close on either side of carrots, carrots and other vegetables grown will help in getting their material out. For fruit picking, with tall trees, wire-fingered fruit-picker, secured to the end of a long handle, will be a big help, but with modern methods using low-headed trees will not be needed.
Another class of applying the park are those used in pruning but where this was attended to right from the start, a good sharp jack-knife and pruning shears will easily handle any type of work required.
Still another kind of garden design is used to support the plant, such as stocks, trellises, wires, etc. Altogether too little attention is usually given it, because with proper care in storing over winter they will not only last for many years, but it does add greatly to the comfort of farm and garden neat appearance.
As a final word to mean purchaser of garden tools, I would say: first thoroughly investigate the types available, and when buying, do not forget that a good tool or a well-made machine will give you long term satisfaction. Get good tools, and take care. And let a few dollars of your money is not wasted in vain to obtain a good tools.
